Siddha Central Research Institute (SCRI) is the pioneer institute for research established in the year 1971 to spin in all spheres of Siddha Research such as Clinical Research, Drug Development and Literary research.

It is governed by Institutional Human Ethics Commitee, Institutional Animal Ethics Commitee and having adequate infrastructure and various departments like Clinical research, Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmacology, Literary research and
Pharmacy.

This institute has been identified and is in the process of upgrading itself to centre of excellence for Clinical research and methodology.

This institute is located in the campus of Arignar Anna Government Hospital of Indian Systems of medicine at Arumbakkam, Chennai.

This institute is instrumental in getting the Patent for Psoriasis and is a referral centre for Psoraisis. Recently this institute has published a patent for Poly herbal drug D5 Chooranam useful for newly detected Type 2 Diabetes.

This institute is offering speciality health services for Elderly on every Tuesday, Diabetic Special OPD services on every monday and Varmam OPD on all days.

SCRI is a reputed Siddha research institute and is a referral hospital for Psoriasis. Under clinical research, drug trials are conducted for treating diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, peptic ulcer, infective hepatitis, diabetes, osteoarthritis and psoriasis. These clinical trials are monitored by the institutional ethical committee.

Siddhars

Persons who have accomplished spiritual perfection are called Siddhars. The southern part of India gave birth to great saints in the distant past and they had great achievements in different fields of art and science. Siddha Vaidya is the longest living medical system in the world..
