Geriatric health care special OPD started in SIDDHA CENTRAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE at Chennai on 13.05.2008. (The geriatric population in India is increasing in recent decades due to various reasons like good and adequate nutrition and health delivery system). The Government of India and the Ministry of AYUSH has taken keen interest to promote health care to the older population through Indian systems of medicine. Siddha system of medicine has health promotive and rejuvenative approach for geriatric health care under the specialised branch called KAYA KARPAM. The geriatric health care special OPD started functioning every Tuesday.

Special OPD for Neerizhivu (Diabetes mellitus)

Special OPD for Neerizhivu (Diabetes mellitus) started in SIDDHA CENTRAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, Chennai on 14.11.2014 in commemoration of World Diabetic Day by the Director General of CCRS. India is the hub of diabetes mellitus. Among the NCDs Diabetic population in India especially Tamil Nadu is increasing in recent decades due to various reasons like sedentary life style, improper diet, etc.
Based on the burden of DM and national importance of NCDs, CCRS took the research on DM. After successful completion of the Multicentric clinical trial with D5 chooranam and its promising results intends to CCRS and SCRI. Finally, it has been launched this special OPD for the betterment of the Society. The special OPD for Neerizhivu (DM) started functioning successfully on every Monday.

 

Varmam, Thokkanam and Bone setting Special OPD

Varmam and Thokkanam are unique and special therapeutic entities in Siddha, which are useful in treating several neurological and musculo – skeletal diseases mostly without the intervention of internal drugs. This specialty OPD was started at SCRI, Chennai in 2012 and it has been receiving an overwhelming response since then.

Flu like Illnesses Special OPD

Flu like Illness special OPD started in Siddha Central Research Institute at Chennai on September 2009. The Ministry of AYUSH is concerned about the increasing number of viral diseases reported from different parts of the country. Siddha system of medicine is useful in prevention and treatment of Flu like illnesses. Special OPD on Flu like illness started functioning daily 8 AM – 12 Noon.
