Background:

About:
Department of Chemistry was established at Siddha Central Research Institute in December, 2010 after the bifurcation of Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) from erstwhile Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS) for the standardization of herbal/ herbo-mineral/mineral drugs and phytochemical isolation.

Vision and Mission

  • Research and development of medicinal plants used in Siddha system of medicine.
  • Standardization of single drugs of herbal/mineral origin used in Siddha medicine.
  • Standardization of Siddha formulations of herbal/herbo-mineral/mineral origin.
  • Development of pharmacopoeial standards for single drugs and compound formulations.
  • Development of monographs for single drugs and siddha compound formulations along with department of pharmacognosy.
  • Development of Phytochemical Reference Standards.
  • To render research facilities to students/faculties and generate fund.
  • Training/internships/project to students/researchers.

Future Plan

  • To get NABL accreditation of the department under chemical scope.
  • To get recognition of the department as a Ph.D. research Centre.
